As Earth Churns…17. Throne Room
Michael
entered the palace and found Jesus on this throne. The Son spoke first, “If
you’re here to report to God, He’s in His meditation room. Probably doesn’t
want to be disturbed for awhile.”
“That’s
all right; it’ll keep,” Michael said. “I actually wanted to speak with you,
Jesus. Have you and the Father had that talk yet?”
“If you
mean the one where He confides in me all about what the resent events in heaven
and on earth indicate for the future here and there, then no; we haven’t
discussed it in any detail. The last time I asked him about it, he simply
stated there was plenty of time. I think He expects me to know that we’ll talk
when the time is right. I’m reconciled to His being the only one who knows when
that will be. What’s the latest news on Earth, Mike. Has the baby been born
yet?” Jesus inquired.
“No, but
by the look and disposition of Eve, it should be any time. When you and Gabriel
planned all the characteristic of mankind before Day 6 of Creation all those
years ago,” Michael reminisced, “what period of time did you establish for the
human mother to carry the baby before delivery?”
“We
decided on about nine months,” Jesus answered. “How’s that seem to be working?”
“Well, I
can tell you this. If it were much longer, I think Adam would run away from
home,” Michael conceded.
“What do
you mean?” Jesus inquired.
“I’ve
been watching Adam and Eve pretty closely in their new hut east of Eden,”
Michael explained. “In the midst of planting and harvesting his crops and
tending his sheep and goats, Adam is constantly besieged by Eve’s deploring him
to bring her a certain type of fruit or vegetable that she craves at the
moment. He searches high and low and finally finds whatever it is that she
asked for. Generally, by the time he brings it to her – sometimes several days
after the request – she no longer wants it; but she almost always immediately
tells him the next food she needs. Yes, Jesus, I’m convinced that nine months
is just about the limit to Adam’s patience even though he loves Eve very much.”
“I’m
glad I had all my omniscient powers on that day of designing creation,” Jesus
stated. “Over these last months, I can’t seem to see the future much beyond
today.”
“Perhaps
that is God’s plan,” Michael consoled.
“I’m
sure it is, Michael,” Jesus agreed. “When my father is ready, he’ll include me
in all the plans. He always has. What was it you wanted to talk with me about?”
“I just
wanted to know if I should interrupt God with my report. I’ve observed
something on Earth that is disturbing me greatly,” Michael confided.
“What is
it, Mike,” Jesus inquired. “Perhaps I can help.”
“That’s
what I was hoping,” Michael continued. “I’m not sure how to proceed. You see,
I’ve observed one of Satan’s devils spying on Adam and Eve. That got me curious
so I dropped into their camp last week – hid in a tree so I could hear without
being noticed – and guess what they were discussing?”
“Sorry,
without my omniscience, I haven’t a clue,” Jesus reminded the angel.
“They
were talking about what they were going to do when Adam and Eve had their
baby,” Michael became agitated. “They plan to steal the child and raise it as
one of their own. A human devil. What do you think about that?”
“Not
much. Yes, Michael, I think this necessitates an immediate report to my
Father,” Jesus advised. “Do you want me to accompany you?”
“If you
don’t mind,” Michael pleaded.
“Not at
all; let’s go,” Jesus guided Michael to the rear door that led to God’s study.
He knocked gently. There was an immediate answer.
