As Earth Churns…31a. The Throne Room
A short
time later Jesus and Gabriel approached the Throne Room carrying several large,
rolled-up sheets of paper. The Father was just entering from His private
Meditation Room behind the throne. With God was the entire Discovery Team.
Their presence was no surprise to the two architects, because God had informed
them that He had just been in the latest update meeting with the team. God had
suggested that the team be present to hear the unveiling of Jesus’ and Gabriel’s
plans. Since there was no objection from the project planners, all immediately
took their seats around the Throne. When everyone was sitting comfortably, God
opened the meeting.
“I would
like for the Discovery Team to report first. Raphael, can you please give us the team’s latest
assessment of life on Earth?” The Father
asked.
Raphael
paused for a moment as he looked around the room at the faces of his
colleagues. Then he began, “As you all know, the man Noah was born shortly
after our last meeting. It’s been over 500 years since that day. Those five
centuries have been bittersweet.”
God
interrupted, “How so, Raphael?”
Raphael
continued, “The world has become an increasingly wicked place. I can now state
irrevocably and, I believe with the affirmation of every member of the
Discovery Team, that all the thoughts and actions of mankind have continued
evil all the time.”
“Except…”
Enoch started to blurt out, “uh, sorry.”
“That’s
all right, Enoch,” assured Raphael, “now that I’ve summarized the bitter part,
you go ahead and elaborate on the sweet.”
Enoch
stood, “Thanks, Raphael. My great-grandson Noah is a really good man. He is
over 500 years old and married to a wonderfully godly woman. They have three
sons who have each found women they have influenced to walk in righteousness
like their dad. The eight of them make quite a family. I’m quite proud of them
all.”
As the
Discovery Team members each nodded their heads in agreement, Raphael spoke once
again, “That’s exactly right and as we had originally hoped. The other bitter
side is that as good as this family of eight souls continues to be, they have
not been able to influence any of their other kinfolk or neighbors to walk in
your ways, Father.”
“They’ve
tried! Hard!” Enoch added. “In fact Noah has gained something of a reputation
as a preacher – a preacher of righteousness, I might add.”
Raphael
agreed, “He really has – but to no avail.”
God
interposed, “Should I give him more time?”
The
others looked hesitantly around the room. Finally, Enoch became the team
spokesperson, “Regrettably, I don’t think it would make a difference.” The
entire team nodded voicing their agreement with Enoch’s evaluation of the
situation.
After a
few more moments God stated what all were thinking, “Okay, thanks for your
efforts, observations, and conclusions. I agree totally and am ready to act.
Let’s hear from Jesus and Gabriel now. Son, how has your work been going? You
sent me the thought that you two were ready to present the plan for the
salvation of mankind. Now that we know we do have eight humans worthy, we are
ready to hear your ideas.
