Part One: In the beginning…1. Heaven
As was his custom for one so full of enthusiasm and energy, Jesus came skipping and whistling down the gold-paved boulevard almost colliding with Michael and Gabriel. Those two angels who were having a conversation just inside the sapphire and pearl gates near the bridge over the River of Life.
“Whoa! Watch
it, young fellow!” cautioned Michael laughingly.
“Sorry,”
apologized Jesus.
“What’s
the hurry?” questioned Gabriel.
“Gotta
see my father over by the throne. See you guys later.” The angels mumbled a
hurried farewell as Jesus scurried away, humming a favorite tune.
Michael
reflected, “That kid. He’s always going someplace in a hurry as though there
weren’t time enough to see it all and do it all.”
“Yeah,” replied
Gabriel. “And he’s always humming or whistling. You know, he really sings
marvelously, too. The angel chorus is glad he has so much interest in that
hobby. You know Allen, the choir leader, was just commenting on the Son’s
musical excellence the other day.”
“I heard
that they’ve got a big to-do planned for glorifying the Father sometime soon;
and Jesus is the lead singer,” Michael retorted.
“Doesn’t
surprise me a bit,” concluded Gabriel. “There’s no end to that boy’s talent and
ability when it comes to singing.”
“Or
speaking…” Michael added.
“Or
running and jumping,” mused Gabriel.
“Yep,
that, too,” agreed Michael. The angels smiled as they continued their leisurely
stroll up the avenue past the glistening emerald tower.
2. Throne Room
Meanwhile,
there was nothing leisurely about Jesus’ movements toward his destination.
