In the beginning…12a. Earth Overlook: Day Seven
Dawning
of the seventh day since the creation sequence had begun found all the heavenly
host assembled once again at the Earth Overlook. God had summoned them for a
very special announcement. After all the spectacular events of the recent past,
the angels had begun thinking of time by Earth standards and in terms they had
been informed man would someday use.
Quieting
the crowd with an upraised hand, God spoke, “We are finished with the work of
creation. Today, Day 7, will be a day of rest from all that work. From this
time forth, the seventh day shall be a blessed and holy day for us in heaven as
well as for mankind on the Earth.”
Cheers
went up from the crowd. Inquisitive looks adorned the faces of many, including
the group that still surrounded Lucifer taking their position of choice as
usual at some distance off to one side.
This
time God raised both hands and immediately the hallowed hush came again. He
continued, “Allen and the angel choir have requested the privilege of
presenting a special praise ceremony for all of us. I have agreed. It will be
in the throne room of the palace in two hours Earth time. You are all invited
to join us for that celebration.”
Knowing
this was the dismissal for now, the angels strolled in pairs or small groups
away from the overlook. Lucifer and his comrades literally slunk in a different
direction from most. He had no plans to assemble and listen to Allen and his
puppet voices impressing the Father; although he did plan to make an appearance
at the gala simply to maintain an impression of unity. He would have his moment
of glory, but that would come later, toward the end of the event. Just now he
had his own work to do; his personal goals to achieve; and they didn’t include
singing or listening to that Jesus. His plot did, however, include what would
be his next journey to Earth. Today was the opportunity for which Lucifer had carefully
watched and patiently waited. Everyone would be preoccupied with preparing for
and then observing the special ceremony. This would give him time to put his scheme
into motion.
Lucifer
had discharged his troops with a word of caution that they were to attend the
gala and cause no disturbance whatsoever. “I’ll join you in a short while,” he
instructed. “When I do, don’t even notice me. I’ll only be there for
appearances sake for a brief time before leaving on a vital mission. I will
rejoin you before the end of the extravaganza,” he nearly spit that last word
from his mouth, “and then we will see all of our preparations come to fruition.
Until then, my friends.”
