As Earth Churns…26a. Enoch’s Room

Several earth hours after the welcoming ceremony concluded, Enoch was sitting comfortably in his special room to which he had been accompanied by the angel reporter Rafael.

“That was some celebration!” Enoch stated appreciatively. “And all of it just for me.”

“The Father wanted to make sure you felt accepted and at home quickly,” Rafael assured him. “Everything that’s done here in heaven is done with quality and careful planning.”

“That’s obvious,” Enoch agreed.

“You should’ve seen the gala we had after the six days of creation!” Rafael exclaimed. “Now THAT was a festival indeed! If you’d like to read about it, I could get archived copies of that and other events chronicled in the Heavenly Herald for your entertainment pleasure and perusal.”

“That would be wonderful!” Enoch responded.

“I know you’re feeling a little overwhelmed, Enoch, with the recent events,” Rafael suggested. “You’re probably tired and should get some R & R.”

“R & R?” Enoch queried.

“Sorry, that what we call rest and relaxation. Sometimes I forget that you haven’t been fully indoctrinated into the ways of heaven as yet. You probably have lots of questions.”

Enoch chimed in, “Only about a thousand!”

“Shoot!” Rafael exclaimed nearly shouting with enthusiasm.

Enoch looked puzzled, “Shoot?”

“Sorry again,” Rafael said apologetically. “Another future earth expression. In this case it means go ahead and ask anything. That’s what I’m here for.”

“Okay, thanks, Rafael. First, why don’t I feel sleepy? It seems like several days – uh, earth days – since I was whisked away from my fields back on earth and set down here in heaven.”

Rafael clarified, “It’s actually been about four weeks, by earth’s calendar.”

“Wow!” uttered Enoch surprisingly.

“Yes, you see in addition to there being no sorrow, pain, tears, and such there is also no night here in heaven. We don’t need it. We don’t sleep. In our spirit state – into which you have been changed by the way – we don’t really need the recuperative powers of sleep. We never have. In your physical state as a man, you needed a good night’s sleep as part of every 24-hour day for your body to function properly. That’s the way Jesus and Gabriel designed your anatomy and physiology prior to the sixth day of Creation.”

“So why the R & R, as you called it? Enoch interposed.

Rafael resumed his explanation, “While you don’t actually need to sleep, resting and relaxing can be a peaceful time conducive to meditation during which you simply enjoy being. You may do that here in your room – personal space created specially for you; or in the many landscapes of heaven’s vast expanse. There are parks and gardens, meadows and pastures, streams and forests. All these have been created for the continued pleasure and enjoyment of mankind.”

Enoch interrupted, “So there will be others? Humans, I mean. In heaven besides myself?”

Rafael answered, “Of course, as the Father chooses. At just the right time others will join us from the earth. In the meantime you will have all the companions among us angels that you desire. There will be ample time for solitude as well. You can choose to sing in the choir, help construct dwelling rooms for other humans, assist me with the gathering and writing of the news in the Herald, or even visit Rainbow Bridge.”

“Rainbow Bridge? What’s that?” Enoch inquired.
