In the beginning...2c Throne Room
“I was thinking, perhaps we could call it…Earth.”
Jesus suggested.
“Great!
So what about between Earth and heaven?” God reiterated using the newly agreed-upon
names.
“You
mean the sky?” Jesus interjected gleefully. “That’s what I’ve been calling the
part right above the water and land…sky.”
God
followed up, “Will that be where some of those creatures you’ve been designing
move around?”
“Yes, some
will fly through the sky,” Jesus explained. “I kind of like the rhyming sound
of that don’t you, Dad?”
The
Father nodded, “I do. It’s very poetic. But we talked about their having access
to only a small part of the distance between Earth and heaven. What about the
rest?”
“I
thought we could call it space; it’s so large,” Jesus clarified. “If man works
out as well as we hope, he’ll eventually visit all of the land and water areas
of Earth and then he’ll find ways to explore the sky. You remember that
“curiosity” trait we discussed instilling in mankind?” Jesus paused.
God
interjected, “You mean like you exhibit every day of your existence?”
“Right!”
Jesus persisted. “Well, beyond the sky will be a larger boundary we could call space.
Someday that will be mankind’s final frontier. We could erect a barrier to
prevent man from ever traveling to our heaven unless the time comes when we
want him to be here with us.”
“You
know, Son, we will definitely want him with us someday,” God reassured him.
“I
know,” Jesus stated.
Then God
asked Jesus, “Remember our discussing how man would be made of the same
substances as the animals?”
“And as
the water and land, too?” Jesus hypothesized.
“Yes, he’ll
be as we are in image and likeness; but not in actual substance. Though you and
I are spirit…”
Jesus
interrupted, “And Gabe and Mike, the angel chorus, and everyone and everything
here in heaven?”
“That’s
right, Son; we are all spirit; but man will be physical. That way he would
never be able to access our heavenly dimension unless we changed him into a purely
spiritual being as we are. That’s a good preventative measure; and we don’t
need any physical barriers to enforce it,” God concluded.
“That
will solve a lot of logistical problems as man gets smarter, won’t it?” Jesus
added.
“Yes, it
surely should,” God agreed.
“So what’s
our next step, Father?” Jesus was eager.
“I guess
we go and give the word to the Spirit,” God suggested.
“Wow!
All right! That’s cool! Let’s do it!” Jesus eagerly exclaimed and started off
at a brisk run back toward the “overlook” from which he’d come some minutes
before.
“Hold on,
Son! Slow down a bit. I’m not as young as I used to be,” God chuckled calling
his son back beside him.
“Oh,
Dad. You know you never age. There’s no difference to you between a day and a
thousand years,” Jesus laughed, too.
“I know;”
God acquiesced, “but man will grow older the longer he lives; and he’ll mature,
just as you’ve been doing since I created you.”
“That’s
right; I forgot,” stated Jesus reminiscing.
God went
on, “And it’s rather interesting to use terminology that we have created just
for him, isn’t it, Son?”
“You
mean like talking about things happening days or weeks ago? We never used to do
that before,” Jesus suggested.
“Yes,
Son,” he affirmed. “I’m glad you understand.”
“But
let’s hurry, Father. I can’t wait to see the Spirit do his thing,” Jesus
plunged ahead enthusiastically once more.
God
laughed again, “Okay. I’m coming. Hold your horses.”
Jesus
stopped dead in his tracks, “What did you say? Something about horses?”
With a
heartfelt chortle, the Father explained, “‘Hold your horses’ is an expression
man will use a long time from now as a plea for patience.”
“I get
it, Dad,” he said slowing his gait once again to match his father’s stately stride.
His
father smiled, pleased, “We’ll get there soon enough, Jesus.”
“I know,
Father,” Jesus agreed. “It’s just that I’m so excited now that the time is
here!”
